Capt. Chuck Gilchrist was appointed to the State of Louisiana Board of River Pilot Review and Oversight in 2021.  Capt. Gilchrist also serves as Chairman of the Board of Pilot Commissioners and Examiners for the Calcasieu Waterway.  He states that it is his honor and pleasure to do all he can to ensure safe and efficient waterborne commerce, that is crucial to the State, Nation and World.

Upon Graduation from Texas A&M Maritime Academy in 1988, He embarked on a 12-year career aboard large oceangoing ships in worldwide trade.  In 2000 Chuck was accepted into The Lake Charles Pilots Association, where he currently handles ships for all terminals on the Calcasieu River.

Capt. Gilchrist and his wife Nathalie of over 30 years are parents to 4 grown children and 1 grandchild with another on the way.
